ANNOUNCEMENTS

WORKSHOP ON THE APPLICATION OF TISSUE C U L T U R E IN TOXICOLOGY An entire forthcoming issue of Toxicology will be devoted to the proceedings of an International Workshop on the Application of Tissue Culture in Toxicology, held at Soesterberg, The Netherlands on 4--5 July, 1980. The three main topics of this symposium are: mechanisms; metabolisms; and screening. The editors for this splinter symposium are Dr. J. Hooisma and Dr. F. Zucco. ISOLATED CELLS F R O M A D U L T ANIMALS--USE IN BIOCHEMICAL TOXICOLOGY This symposium, on "Isolated Cells from Adult Animals -- Use in Biochemical Toxicology", will be published as a complete issue in Toxicology and will directly follow the symposium, as announced above, on Application of Tissue Culture in Toxicology. The symposium, organised by Professor M. Roberfroid, Dr. S. Orrenius and Dr. O. Krack-Dubois, was held in Namur, Belgium on 12--13 July, 1980. The main topics of this symposium are: lecture on freshly isolated mammalian cells in biochemical research; m e t h o d o l o g y aspects; metabolism of drugs and chemicals; acute biot~Xic effects; chronic biotoxic effects; and concluding remarks.
