The Italian Society of Neonatal Screening (SISN) was recently formed. SISN arose from the need to provide comparisons and coordination among Italian neonatal screening centers. The purpose of SISN is to promote advances in the activities of screening. in particular those of neonatal screening. The inaugural meeting of SISN was held on 5th May 1995 in Geneva. Prof. C. Roman0 (Genova) was elected President: Dr. M. Burroni (Fano), Prof. E. Cacciari (Bologna). and Dr. F. Lilliu (Cagliari) were elected as members of Council: Dr. C. Corbetta (Milano) was elected Treasurer and Prof. R. Cerone (Geneva) was elected Secretary. SISN considers itself to be an afliliated Society of the International Society of Neonatal Screening.
