The t w o deals are in line with the g r o u p ' s declared intention of expanding through selective acquisitions. Weir is the w o r l d ' s sixth biggest p u m p maker and the Schabaver deal will increase its manufacturing n e t w o r k to 30 plants in 14 countries.

"The Schabaver line of metal pumps is complementary to the ASH Pump product portfolio and will provide an e x p a n d e d customer and product base," he said. It is i n t e n d e d to merge the Schabaver business with WEMCO EnviroTech France. "The increase in critical mass will provide a broader business base with improved profitability and c o n s i s t e n c y of earnings," said Mr Krumm. ITT I n d u s t r i e s launches new corporate brand campaign Travis Engen, chairman, president and chief executive of ITT Industries, Inc. recently o p e n e d trading on the New York Stock Exchange as the c o m p a n y launched its new, multifaceted c o r p o r a t e brand campaign. The n e w brand identity and advertising campaigns celebrate the c o m p a n y ' s engineering heritage, and reiterate the company's c o m m i t m e n t to delivering quality, mission-critical products and services in its chosen markets. "Since 1995, w h e n ITT Industries became independent, we have significantly transformed the company," said Mr. Engen. "We've refocused our energy in areas where we have engineering strength and where we see the most growth and value creating opportunity, especially in our fluid technology business through the acquisition of Goulds Pumps, and in our defense business t h r o u g h the acquisition of Kaman Sciences. Very soon, we will conclude the sale of two of our automotive businesses, and will b e c o m e a more balanced, multi-industry manufacturing company. Having taken these bold steps, I believe our company is well p o s i t i o n e d for the launch of our new brand identity, w h i c h carries the tagline 'Engineered for life'." The n e w logo is a symbol c o m p r i s e d of "engineered blocks" w h i c h p r e s e n t the ITT letters as nine, equally proportioned, interlocking pieces that c o m e t o g e t h e r to form a solid whole. The brand-mark is i n t e n d e d to c o n n o t e precision, strength, engineering and unity, all attributes of ITT Industries businesses and products.
Most pump companiesjust make pumps. We make history, When the governments of England and Francetook the historic decision to construct an undersea link between their two countries, the contractors were united on their choice of pump supplier. 113 Flygt quality is availablein pumps so light that they can be carried onto a building site, to pumps so powerful that they can even keep undersea tunnels dry. Today, you'll find our pumps, mixers and hydroturbine generators hard at work in millions of challenging tasks in almost every country on earth. From helping the new Athens Metro to run smoothly, to cleaning up Casablanca's wastewater. And from bringing drinking water supplies to villages in the Congo to providing the technology in the fish ladder that will bring salmon back to the Colorado river. We've spent half a century supplying answers to the world's water problems (and some of our original pumps are still at work, over 40 years after being installed). All that experience helps us make better, more reliable and more efficient pumping solutions. Which is why more people choose ITT Flygt pumps than any other make. Our pumps don't just make history. They make sense.

The tagline, "Engineered for life," further solidifies the redefinition of the company. The tagline has the dual purpose of communicating ITT Industries' commitment to engineering excellence and the company's success in providing high-quality, durable products that improve quality of life. The corporate identity is being launched simultaneously with ITT Industries' new international advertising campaign. Print and broadcast advertisements feature a cross-section of the company's engineers from around the world. The print ads, also debuting today inThe Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and The New York Times highlight ITT Industries' own engineers, including Travis Engen, who is an aeronautical engineer himself. Contract to s u p p l y p u m p s to I n d o n e s i a
Sterling Fluid Systems has won a US$5 million order, against fierce international competition, to supply Sterling Halberg vertical mixed flow p u m p s to a major natural gas extraction company in Indonesia. The three pumps will be used on Proyek Pemanfaatan Gas Permia's new pumping installation, which is being built for the process of gas liquefaction. This process involves the pumping of large quantities of cooling (sea) water, with each p u m p having a flow rate of 14 700 m3/h. The pumps are to be installed in the LNG plant, Bontang, East Kalimaiitan, Indonesia during 1998. Since 1974 there have been 24 orders for Sterling Halberg vertical mixed flow pumps for this LNG plant in Bontang, making it the largest application of this product in South East Asia. The consortium responsible for the project is IKPT (Inti Karya Persada Technik) with the planning and installation
