J. M. Ward appointed visiting professor Mr J. M. Ward, B SC FRIC, a member of the editorial committee of Fuel has been appointed Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of Surrey. Mr Ward is the Research Manager and Head of the Chemistry Division at the Central Electricity Research Laboratories, Leatherhead. The Chemistry Division of CERL is principally concerned with chemistry and corrosion at high temperatures and pressures and the control and cleaning of gases in nuclear and conventional power stations. Mr Ward, who joined the Electricity Supply Industry in 1946, is particularly interested in the nature, planning and organisation of research.

Mr Ward is District Member of Council of the Royal Institute of Chemistry for the Downland and Kent Sections and was the first Chairman of the Downland Section.
