Jobs at risk as Grundfos consolidates European production and distribution
G
rundfos has unveiled plans to optimise and consolidate its production and distribution in Europe and up to 390 employees could potentially be affected. The Grundfos plan includes transferring and consolidating production lines at existing factories and setting up a new central, European distribution centre. Grundfos facilities in France, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Serbia and Denmark would be involved in the changes. “Unfortunately, good and loyal colleagues potentially risk losing their jobs, but due to the competitive environment, overcapacity and the need to simplify our operational footprint, we have concluded that the planned actions are necessary,” said Niels Møller Jensen, Grundfos regional operations vice president. The Danish company says that the plans are fully aligned with the Grundfos Strategy 2020 and Group Must Win Battle 2. “We want to strengthen, simplify and consolidate our production and distribution set-up. This would give us an advantage in a very competitive environment and make it easier to give the best service to our customers. This proactive plan would help us meet the challenges and opportunities we expect ahead – especially in the HVAC OEM industry,” explained Møller Jensen. “We plan to establish a central, European distribution centre, which would provide
better and faster delivery service to our customers. And we would gain better access to major air cargo and sea cargo gates,” said Zoltán János Szabó, Grundfos’s corporate logistics director. For further information, visit www.grundfos.com
