New Engelhard technology brings colour-changing effects to cosmetics, personal care products Engelhard Corporation has launched a new line of colour-changing specialeffect pigments for cosmetics and personal care products. With subtle changes in viewing angle, Engelhard Reflecks™ MultiDimensions pigments can appear to be one colour, but suddenly move across the colour spectrum to provide multiple colour effects on the skin or in shampoos and lotions. Colour changing in these borosilicate-based pigments is made possible by Engelhard’s patented non-quarter-wave, multi-layer coating technology. For example, the effect of one MultiDimensions pigment can appear red, but, by changing the angle just 30 degrees, the effect turns to violet then blue or shifts from violet to blue to teal.
