Conmed acquires Buffalo Filter
U
S medical technology company Conmed Corp has completed its acquisition of Buffalo Filter LLC from Filtration Group. Founded in 1991 and acquired by Filtration Group in 2013, Lancaster, New York-based Buffalo Filter specialises in surgical smoke evacuation technologies. The company’s product portfolio includes smoke evacuation pencils, smoke evacuators and laparoscopic solutions.

Mann+Hummel: preliminary 2018 results
F
iltration specialist Mann+Hummel has reported preliminary revenues of approximately E4 billion for 2018, up 1.7% year-on-year. The company says that in light of unsatisfactory earnings in 2018, it will begin a global savings initiative to reduce its cost structure by approximately E60 million. “This year, we remain dedicated to execute internal restructuring processes. In addition to the automotive and industrial business, we will drive innovation and profitability in our newly formed Life Sciences & Environment segment,” said Werner Lieberherr, president and CEO of Mann+Hummel. “We are committed to position Mann+Hummel sustainably and successfully for the future and are convinced of the necessity of the planned cost savings initiatives in an increasingly competitive environment.” Mann+Hummel expects to complete the initiation of these cost saving measures by the end of 2019 and to realize the full effects in 2020. Systems in a US$120 million cash deal and Aquion for US$160 million in cash, subject to customary postclosing adjustments (see Filtration Industry Analyst, January 2019). Headquartered in DeLand, Florida, Pelican Water Systems provides residential whole home water treatment systems and employs 79 people. Aquion, which is headquartered outside Chicago and employs approximately 170 people, offers a diverse line of water conditioners, water filters, drinking-water purifiers, ozone and ultraviolet disinfection systems, reverse osmosis systems and acid neutralizers. “We are excited about the addition of Pelican Water Systems for the new growth opportunities it brings to Pentair and for the innovative products and services we can bring to consumers, enhancing where, how and when they can buy their water treatment solutions,” said Pentair president and CEO John Stauch. “The addition of Aquion and its affiliated dealer network, offering complete systems and solutions, highly complements Pentair’s value chain in residential water offerings,” added Stauch. JP Air Tech invests in new glue line

P Air Tech is continuing its investment program with the installation of a new glue line at the company’s manufacturing facility in Sakskøbing, Denmark. The new glue line will allow the company to laminate a broad range of nonwoven fabrics and membranes including glass-fibre, spunbond, meltblown, cellulose-blend, PTFE and nano to produce multi-layered filter media products to meet specific filtration requirements. “This investment will allow us to support the growing demand for high-end filtration materials, developing new products and expanding into new markets including automotive cabin and HVAC segments,” said Jorgen Poulsen, managing director at JP Air Tech. JP Air Tech recently increased its nanofibre production capacity in Sakskøbing (see Filtration Industry Analyst, January 2019).
