RESULTS AND DISCUSSION The results were found that female had greater angles in flexion (116.3°), abduction (27.0°), and external rotation (12.3°) than male (Table 1 and Figure 1). The flexion degree at maximal abduction was occurred at 116.0° in female and 64.9° in male respectively. The flexion degree at maximal external rotation was occurred at 110.0° in female and 44.6° in male respectively. The results of this pilot study found that differences exist between female and male athletes during closed chain movement. There was showed that female athletes used different strategy to perform the sports movement, especially in knee abduction. It may result in higher rate of ACL injury for female athletes. CONCLUSIONS The result of this pilot study demonstrated that female and male athletes employ different strategy while performing squatting maneuver. The female had greater abduction degree during squatting then male. This movement patterns

METHODS Six athletes (3 female, 3 male) were recruited from badminton, basketball, and track and field team of University to perform the measured activity. Zebris 3D ultra-sound based motion analysis system CMS-HS (Medical GmbH, Tubingen, Germany) was used to measure the kinematics data of knee joint during closed chain movement (squatting). The WinData Software (Medical GmbH, Tubingen, Germany) was used to collect and analyze the knee joint kinematics data. Squatting activity was selected as closed chain movement that performed the measurement of kinematics date from knee joint. The squatting activity performed five repeats. The gender differences in knee joint kinematics were evaluated. The mean of kinematics data was performed by using SPSS version 10.0.
may be more susceptible to injury to ACL in female. Future study is needed to collect more samples and to compare open chain and closed chain movement between different genders.

INTRODUCTION Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is a common sports injury, especially in females [1]. Gender-based differences in injury rates have been reported in some sports events [2, 3], but less researches have been analyzed the knee kinematics for specific movement. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to comparison of the knee kinematics in closed chain movement between different genders.
