LASER SENSOR www.lmint.com The high-speed P S D - b a s e d L a s e r Distance Sensor (LDS) from LMI Technologies (USA) Inc.'s tracks object displacement or running profile changes at analog outputs up to a 100-kHz response, making them an ideal choice for measuring thickness. Differential is measured by two sensors. This allows on-line thickness and profile measurements to be made at the same high rates without sacrificing production speed or quality.

COATING THICKNESS GAUGE www.automation-usa.com Automation USA's QuaNix 4200, used for measu r e m e n t s over steel or iron, and the Q u a N i x 4500, used for m e a s u r e m e n t s over steel and aluminum, have been designed for various applications including assessing the paint work on an automobile, inspecting an outdoor structure, and for use on a liquid or powder line. The h a n d y and rugged gauge, which meets the requirements for those m e a s u r i n g coating thickness, was designed w i t h a c c u r a c y and ease of use in mind. The QuaNix is small yet s t u r d y and ideal for outdoor uses as well as in a m a n u f a c t u r i n g environment.

COATING THICKNESS MEASUREMENT www.fischer-technology.com Fischer Technology's line of coating thickness m e a s u r e m e n t gauges includes hand-held and bench-top devices using the magnetic induction and eddy current methods in addition to X-ray fluorescence, coulometric, and beta b a c k s c a t t e r methods. Fischer's hand-held gauges have more than 200 "smart" probes that adapt to the units for specific applications such as measuring paint, powder, or plating over ferrous and nonferrous substrates. The ETA3.3F S m a r t Probe will even measure the thickness of anodized coatings over a l u m i n u m w h e n the surface m a i n t a i n s a w e t acidic contamination.
