EL d i s p l a y s f r o m the UK Two electroluminescent displays w e r e launched late last y e a r b y Phosphor Products, the only UK manufacturer of EL technology. The PPC2000 is a half A4 page, DC electroluminescent matrix display, uHli~,tg a 640 x 266 pixel array, offering text and graphics display over a wide (> 140°cone) viewing angle. It is 26 nun d e e p and is ruggedly packaged, with single board drive electronics. The TS2126 is b a s e d on the PPC2000, but has, in addition, a TI Research capacitive touch switch panel, integrated with the DCEL display drive system. The panel has an 8 x 16 array of switches, providing simultaneous interactive data input and data display. Phoaphor Products Co. Ltd, No ] Factory Road, Upton, Poole, Dorset BH]6 8SJ, UE. Light bars are s l i m Slimline light bars, 3.8 nun wide, that emit red, yellow or g r e e n light are being marketed by Siemens. They come in the form of single elements 19.5 nun long, or as double or quadruple elements 8.9 mm long. The 8.9 mm version operates with two LEDs, the 19.5 nun version with four LEDs. All versions are suitable for flush front-mounting and can be a r r a n g e d in rows as required. They are also compatible with integrated circuits and permit multiplex operation. The 'special slimline' light bar, measuring 3.8 x 19.5 nun, is d e s i g n e d for the implementation of line scales. A forward current of 20 mA produces a typical luminous intensity of 20 m c d (super-red, green) and 12 mcd (yellow). At 20 mA the double and quadruple elements 164

achieve typical values of 10 and 6 mud, respectively. The bars are located on the upper sides of plastic packages, uniform height 6.1 ram; the pins are 4 mm long. Siemens /~L,n/ted, S/emens House, WindmilI Road, Sunbury-on71mines, Middlesex TWI6 ~ , U K Tel: ( ~ ~ I , Teler ~ I ~ I []
