Aramid gasket is environmentally friendly Donit Tesnit have introduced Doniflex G an aramid fibre and graphite based gasket material. The new material is offered as a high compressibility and environment friendly gasket material with excellent thermal properties. It is based on Twaron aramide fibres, specially selected fillers and graphite. By a careful selection of components the new material is free of N-nitrosamines and has no fibres which are hazardous to human health. No significant emission of hazardous degradation product has been detected when it

is subjected to high temperatures. Doniflex G complies with BS 7531 Grade X requirements. In a separate announcement the company has been awarded both the Delivery Excellence Award and Zero Defect Award by Federal Mogul for excellent service in 2004. TA-Luft compliant gasket offers potential for standardization The Corratherm gasket launched by Burgmann Industries GmbH, is made of corrugated stainless steel coated on both sides with flexible graphite foil. The gasket is designed to comply with the stringent TA-Luft directives with regard to volatile emissions. An internal beading helps to guarantee high blow-out safety. The graphite coatings enable the gasket to be removed from the flange without sticking. The gaskets are resistant to the wide range of fluids expected from these

materials and at temperatures up to 450ºC. Corrachem-T is coated with pure PTFE instead of graphite and can be used up to 260°C in chemical and pharmaceutical applications. O-rings can be detected by metal Sealant combines silicone performance and hot-melt productivity detectors A new sealant technology from Dow Corning Corp. is designed to combine the production benefits of instant adhesion with the performance benefits of silicone elastomers. The aim is to increase productivity, improve quality and reduce assembly costs. A patented reactive hot-melt silicone, Dow Corning HM-2500 Assembly Sealant, has been developed to provide high green strength for immediate hold. It then cures to a flexible, weatherresistant silicone seal. It is intended to reduce the production bottlenecks created waiting for sealants to cure. As HM-2500 provides immediate hold, parts can be moved from one processing step to the next without delay. The sealant

provides long-lasting adhesion to PVC, aluminum, painted and treated wood, high-performance paints, plastics and various substrates. It is compatible with most common component materials without the need of a primer. It also has a long open time, pot life, and moderate application temperature of 121ºC. High viscosity at room temperature resists flow of material reducing sealant squeeze out and clean up. The moisture curing, 100 percent silicone sealant is optimized for use with automated dispensing equipment. High-performance seals go soft Greene, Tweed has announced the introduction of Chemraz 656, to meet demand for a softer high-performance seal in the semiconductor processing industry. The 70 Shore A material was developed to meet the evolving needs of the semiconductor industry for increased reliability in harsher processing environments with a low-metallic-ion content, of less than 5355 parts per billion.

Offering stable operation at service temperatures up to 230ºC it is compatible with most semiconductor processes, including chemical vapor deposition, dry plasma etching, rapid thermal processing, and diffusion.
