Portable Echosounder BioSonics, Inc. announces the DT4000, a portable, all digital, laptop-computer-controlled scientific echo sounder for fisheries and oceanography research and aquatic surveys. Based on new Digital Transducer architecture (patent pending), the entire scientific sounder is miniaturized and packaged with the transducer in a lightweight, compact housing. Up to eight data processing programs may be loaded directly into the digital transducer ROM memory for digitizing of the acoustic signal. The standard software programs include echo integration, target counting and strength distribution, fish tracking, and other features. Low Cost On-Line Water Monitor PPM LTD has introduced a new low-cost on-line water monitoring system, the PROTOC 100 which provides a fast and accurate way to continuously measure TOC or TC values in real time. It has a measured range of 0-10 to 0-50 000 ppm in most applications where COD or BOD tests are normally conducted. The instrument is fitted with relay contacts for high and low alarms on the sample stream, which can be set to provide early warning of organic spills or to ensure that permitted discharge levels are not exceeded. It can be supplied in a rugged GRP case weatherproofed to IP65 and safely positioned within 'dirty' areas. On-site manual recalibration can be undertaken at approximately weekly intervals, without the need for any laboratory facilities.
New Easy-to-Use DO Analyser The new model 600 oxygen analyser from Engineered Systems and Designs is portable and is designed to provide convenient, on-the-spot testing. It measures 0100% atmospheric oxygen as well as 0-20 ppm dissolved oxygen. The model 600 is said to be easy to operate and is designed for the non-technical user. Its maintenancefree galvanic sensor requires no membrane or filling solution replacements. Sold in kit form, each meter includes a five-foot sensor, instructions, 9-volt battery and carrying case. The meter is guaranteed for 2 years, and the electrode for 2 months. Further details from Engineered Systems and Designs, l19A Sandy Drive, Newark, DE 19713, USA, Fax (302) 456 0441.
