Slide rule for sewage units
Mag drive series with sealless option
KSB is offering a slide rule type selector that helps to size and select floodable sewage lifting units for building services applications.
The packed and sealed pumps, now offer a solution for upgrading existing pumps. This sealless pump features a thrustcontrolled design which, the company says, allows short-term run-dry capabilities and bidirectional pump operation for application flexibility.
The front side of the slide rule serves to establish the flow rate Q and discharge head H required for selecting the pump. Functions also include establishing the design units (DU), sizing the piping as well as calculating the head losses in piping, valves and fittings.
Viking Pumps’ has added a sealless option to its line of Universal Mag Drive series.
Available in cast iron, steel and stainless steel, these sealless pumps are designed to eliminate seal leakage and environmental concerns, along with downtime due to seal replacement. They are ideal for hazardous, hard-to-seal liquids or for applications where very low maintenance is required. The adjustable rotor clearance enables high volumetric efficiency, whether pumping thin or viscous liquids. The pumps have been designed so that
the in-canister bushing and hollow shaft design, which generates positive internal cooling flow, means pump life can be extended. This series of pumps currently offers flow rates of up to 45 m3/h (200 GPM), with pressures to 14 Bar (200 PSI) and at temperatures ranging from -51ºC to 260ºC (-60ºF to 500ºF). Capacities to 114 m3/h (500 GPM) will be available later this year. www.vikingpump.com
With the slide rule’s rear side it is possible to select the optimum pump hydraulic system on the basis of the flow rate and discharge head. In addition, the user can calculate the discharge pipe’s volume and the tank size as a function of the suction head. KSB says the assignment of sizes are in compliance with the relevant standards and regulations. www.ksb.de
Protection sustaines efficiencies Moyno® progressing cavity pumps have been designed to handle clean, clear liquids as well as thick, abrasive, and corrosive fluids and slurries, with viscosities over 1,000,000 cps. The product line includes models capable of generating flow rates up to 2,500 gpm and pressures to 2,100 psi. According to the company, a variety of proprietary Ultra-Flex® stator elastomers and Ultra-Shield® rotor coatings sustain peak pumping efficiencies in the most corrosive and abrasive service environments. Typical Moyno progressing cavity pump applications include drilling mud, crude transfer, chemical injection, water injection and mulitphase fluid transfer. www.moyno.com
