MANUFACTURERS' CORNER: NEW TECHNOLOGY New RK600 autorefractorlkeratometer from Reichert
Deichert Ophthalmic Instruments introduces the ~K600 autorefractor/keratometer, a new instrument featuring modem design, ease of use, a full range of features and high accuracy. The RK600 has a number of selectable automatic and manual measurement modes to suit user preference. The operating icons and results are easily viewed on a full-colour LCD (liquid crystal display) monitor that superimposes the measurement data on a macro view of the patient's eye. The RK600 is compact and lightweight and incorporates a thermal printer with automatic paper cutting to provide a hard copy printout of results. A comfortable chin rest and headrest, familiar joystick control and automatic measurement modes make the RK600 easy for any operator to use and comfortable for any patient undergoing measurement. An RS-232C interface enables measurement data to be sent to an external computer or data collection device. An NTSC (National Television System Committee) video terminal allows connection to an external monitor for observation of the same image that appears on the LCD screen. Y
olk Optical, the industry leader in aspheric optics, has responded to the increasing demand for sterile optical supplies with the introduction of autoclave-sterilizable (ACS) biomicroscopy (Bio) lenses. These new lenses offer the same performance as traditional Yolk Bio lenses, but with decreased processing time for sterilization. The ACS Bio lenses can be safely steam-sterilized in-office using an autoclave, saving hours compared with outsourced ethylene oxide gas sterilization. The lenses, available in 20-dioptre and 28-dioptre

powers, provide high magnification for fundus examination and are ideal for use in preoperative procedures. Like all Yolk lenses, the ACS Bio lenses are constructed of glass for a brighter and clearer image than that with plastic lenses. Volk's patented double aspheric technology provides undistorted views across the entire lens surface, eliminating blurring at the edges. ACS versions of selected indirect Yolk vitrectomy lenses, ClariVit lenses and Chalam surgical lenses are also available.
