Marmon Water expands with KX Industries acquisition

armon Water LLC has acquired the assets of KX Industries Ltd Partnership, a US supplier of residential water filtration systems. Based in Orange, Connecticut, KX supplies extruded carbon block used in residential filtration systems and refrigeration filtration. “We see great growth opportunities in a business that helps meet the universal need for clean, safe, affordable water in an environmentally responsible way,” Marmon Water president John Goody said. “Carbon filtration systems remove impurities while leaving important water-soluble minerals, and the cost benefits of using tap water speak for themselves. What’s more, filtered tap water is a clear alternative to the waste inherent in the manufacture and disposal of plastic bottles.” The KX business will operate as KX Technologies LLC. Marmon Water, which is part of the US$7 billion-revenue Marmon Group, comprises more than a dozen companies that supply water treatment and

filtration products and systems to residential and industrial customers globally. Marmon Water operates three groups: The Residential Group which includes US-based EcoWater Systems and affiliates in China, Singapore, Europe and Canada; the Separations Technology Group which now covers KX Technologies and Graver Technologies; and the Industrial Group which incorporates Ecodyne Ltd, Ecodyne Water Treatment, Graver Water Systems, Ecodyne MRM, Ecodyne UET and Amarillo Gear Co. COMMENT KX brings complementary technology to Marmon Water’s existing capabilities in both residential and industrial ion exchange based products (see Filtration Industry Analyst, March 2007). ■

all Corp says its annual and quarterly financial statements for the fiscal years 1999 through 2006 and for the first three quarters of fiscal 2007 should no longer be relied upon and that a restatement of some or all of those financial statements will be required. The announcement follows an inquiry by the audit committee of Pall’s board of directors into an understatement of US income tax payments and of its provision for income taxes. The understatement - which could be in excess of US$130 million - relates to the

taxation of certain inter-company payable balances that mainly resulted from sales of products by a foreign subsidiary of the company to a US subsidiary. “We are working diligently with the audit committee and our auditors to resolve this matter. We are retaining a sharp focus on the operating performance of the business as we serve our global customer base across the Life Sciences and Industrial landscape,” said Eric Krasnoff, Pall’s chairman and chief executive officer (CEO).
