D r. Banzhaf Addreises Joint M eeting: San Francisco Medical and Dental societies, meeting in join t session, at the Medical Club, were addressed by Henry L. Banzhaf, Presi dent o f the American Dental Association. A dinner was given in Dr. B anzhaf’s honor, at the Elks Club, previous to the meeting. M edicodental Building at San D iego: The new medicodental building being constructed at T h ird and A streets, San Diego, as a home fo r the medical and dental professions is expected to be ready f o r occupancy by June. It is a reinforced concrete building with a terra cotta and face brick exterior, and m arble lobby and corridors. A ll offices are outside offices with built-in conveniences such as special roentgen-ray w iring, compressed air, forced ventilation, electric outlets fo r power and lighting, properly placed gas outlets and
a water-softening plant. A n entire w ing on the fourteenth floor has been planned fo r the medical library. A garage sufficient to accommodate both tenants and clientele has been built in connection with the building so that one can drive directly into the garage, leave his car and enter the elevator lobby. Bloodgood Addresses Chicago Society: The A p ril meeting o f the Chicago Dental Society was addressed by Joseph Colt Bloodgood, Baltimore, M d., on the subject o f “Cancer o f the M outh.” About 400 mem bers and guests were in attendance at the lecture, which was preceded by a dinner and election o f officers. Dental Society o f Western Canada: The Dental Society o f Western Canada met in Edmonton, A lberta, M ay 25 -27, at the M acdonald Hotel. The chief clinicians were F. F. Ferrier, Seattle, Wash., on “Indication fo r and Practical Demonstrations o f Gold F oil Insertions.” Dental Progress in the Near East: A t the first dental conference ever held in the Near East, at the Dental School o f the American U niversity o f Beirut, in Syria, resolutions were passed that more time be given to the subjects o f preventive dentistry and mouth hygiene in the dental curriculum. W ork among the children o f the community is to be undertaken, under the supervision o f the university, and the attention o f the govern ment officials is to be directed to the need fo r dental care among the children o f the community. D r. Potter Given Legion o f H onor: Mem bership in the French Legion o f Honor has been bestowed upon Dr. W illiam Henry Potter, o f Boston, Mass., professor o f Oper ative Dentistry at H arvard University, it has been learned in Paris. The decoration came through the French ambassador to Washing ton and was given in recognition o f Dr. Potter’s services in the W o rld W ar. D r. Pot ter was dental surgeon at the American Ambulance Hospital at N euilly fo r three months, during 1 9 14 and 19 15 . Later he was made first lieutenant in the Dental Corps o f the U. S. A rm y. He was also a member o f the U. S. Base Hospital No. 5, and served in British Hospitals, and later as instructor at the A rm y Sanitary School at Langres, France. He returned to the United States in A p ril 19 19 , being promoted to m ajor and to lieutenant colonel. Dr. Potter is a mem ber o f the American Academy o f Dental Science, Massachusetts, and a number o f other dental organizations. He is an alumnus o f H arvard and since 19 04 has been connected with the fa c u lty at H arvard Dental School.— Paris Edition, New York H erald, Feb. 23, 1927.

Proctor, Boston, in memory o f Robert Rarsbeck Proctor, his son, in whose memory the dental clinic held in the B erry School was also established. The tablet reads: “ In Loving M em ory o f Robert Rars beck Proctor, 19 0 5 -19 2 4 . This dental clinic is founded by his parents, Doctor and M rs. Charles M .
