toxic substance, temperature, and humidity correlated output signals that are picked up, the present invention proposes that the characteristics curves of the sensor are reproduced in a voltage divider which, outside the sensor and jointly with the sensor forms a voltage divider for a common supply voltage, such that the influence factors compensate each other in equal proportional changes in value of both the sensor and of the outside wiring.

METHOD OF TREATING W A S T E Heinz Holter, Heinrich Igelbuscher, Heinrich Gresch, Heribert Dewert, 4390 Gladbeck, Federal Republic Of Germany assigned to Holter Heinz Household garbage, municipal waste, clarifier sludge and mixtures thereof continuously derived during summer months, for example, can be continuously mixed with a high volatiles coal and the resulting mixtures subjected to degasification at a temperature of up to 650 degrees C., preferably around 600 degrees C. to produce a coke-like pyrolysis product which can be stored sanitarily and burned during winter months in a fluidized bed or other power plant boiler.
William L Lowry, Maurice G Woods, Charles Martin assigned to CH Guernsey & Company; Woods Maurice; Woods Teresa; Applied Thermal Systems Inc A combined cycle waste-to-energy plant is utilized to thermally convert municipal and industrial solid wastes into essentially complete products of combustion and use the combustion heat to produce steam and/or electrical power. The plant includes a building enclosure having a waste receiving area, a waste fuel separation and processing area, an incinerator area and a heat recovery and power generation area. Processed waste fuel is delivered to a series of incinerators by an automated conveyor and hopper system, and the waste fuel is burned in the incinerators by hot exhaust gas delivered thereto f r o m o n e o r more combustion turbines located outside the building and drivingly connected to electrical generators. Inlet air to the turbines is drawn from with the building to maintain its interior at a negative pressure, thereby preventing waste odors and pathogens from escaping from the building. Hot combustion turbine exhaust gas delivered to the incinerators is passed through a superheater, and a portion of the exhaust gas exiting the superheater is passed through a waste heat recovery boiler. Hot combustion gas discharged from each of the incinerators is passed through an associated combusion heat recovery boiler. Gas heat recovered in the superheater and the various boilers is utilized to produce steam " which operates a steam turbine drivingly connected to an electrical generator. A portion of the steam generated may also be used for process purposes,

WASTE Robert C W Chang, Steven C Vorndran, Michael F Joseph, Wilkins Twp, Allegheny County, PA, United Statee assigned to Westinghouse Electric Corp A method and apparatus for pyrolytically decomposing waste material characterized by injecting a mixture of waste and water into a plasma torch having an operation temperature of in excess of 5000 degrees C. to form a mixture of product gases and solid particulate; separating the gases and particulate in a first cyclone separator into separate phases; transferring the particulate to a second cyclone separator and subjecting the particulate to a partial vacuum to separate any carryover gases from the particulate; subjecting the combined reaction chamber and carry over gases in a scrubber to a spray consisting o f a caustic solution and water to eliminate any carryover particulate from the gases and to neutralize and HCI in the gases; and removing the gases from the scrubber.
