Miami International Conference on Alternative Energy Sources Miami Beach, Florida, U.S.A. 5-7 December 1977
Symposium theme: Present Status and Future Promise rresented by: Clean Energy Research Institute, University of Miami Sponsored by: Energy Research and Development Administration, Federal Energy Administration, School of Continuing Studies, University of Miami, U.S.A.
Objectives of the symposium The rapid depletion of fossil fuels, particularly petroleum and natural gas, makes consideration of various alternative sources a matter of great importance. This conference will provide the latest information on the status and future possibilities for the following alternative sources of energy: nuclear breeders, nuclear fusion, solar energy, ocean thermal energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, and synthetic fuels such as gas from coal or hydrogen. Although the primary emphasis will be on the technologies associated with each energy source, discussions on economic, social and environmental effects will also be included.
Program format Three days of invited lecture and paper presentations and discussions are planned. The program will include sessions on: Nuclear breeders Nuclear fusion Solar energy Geo-thermal energy Ocean thermal energy
Wind energy Hydro-power Tide power Wave energy Salinity gradient power Miscellaneous topics
Coal gasification & liquefaction Synthetic fuels Hydrogen energy Economics & policy
