The Multilateral Initiative on Malaria (MIM) invites you to the 4th MIM PAN-AFRICAN MALARIA CONFERENCE 2005 Yaoundé, Cameroon, November 13-18 New Strategies Against an Ancient Scourge The MIM Pan-African Malaria Conferences are currently the largest meetings worldwide entirely devoted to malaria research and control. The upcoming event in Yaoundé will bring together scientists, control managers, representatives of industry and policy makers from all over the world and will focus on scientific progress and potential in malaria research with the aim of promoting the exchange of scientific ideas and their relevance for malaria control within Africa. The MIM conferences are a unique opportunity for scientists and malaria control program personnel from across Africa to meet to discuss research required to underpin control activities The Conference is scheduled for five official days and will include 8 plenary talks, 32 parallel sessions and 4 current controversy discussions. Themes The scientific program will be arranged around the following central themes: Bioethics | Capacity Building | Drugs and Clinical Applications | Epidemiology and Surveillance | Health Systems Research | Human-Anopheles-Plasmodium Genomics | Parasite Biology | Pathogenesis and Immunology | Socio-economics | Vaccine Development | Vector Biology and Control The gap between the control sector, comprising socioeconomic and behavioral sciences, and the natural sciences remains an obvious hindrance in reducing the burden of malaria disease.
