Minntech reports 36% earnings increase

The goal of the cooperation is to a t t a i n a significant i m p r o v e m e n t in the p r i c e / p e r f o r m a n c e ratio of m e m b r a n e s in t e r m s of reliability, c a p a c i t y a n d service life. It w a s revealed t h a t the m e m b r a n e element will be a p p l i e d p r i m a r i l y in i n d u s t r i a l p o t a b l e a n d p r o c e s s w a t e r fabrication out of p o l l u t e d (surface) w a t e r by m e a n s of ultrafiltration, b u t m a y also be applied to c l e a n - u p a p p l i c a t i o n s in the p u l p a n d p a p e r a n d textile i n d u s t r i e s . The p r o d u c t , n a m e d SuperFil, will be i n t e g r a t e d in the p r o d u c t a n d service p r o g r a m of S t o r k F r i e s l a n d a n d will be c o m m e r c i a l l y available by the b e g i n n i n g of 1998.

In a d d i t i o n Mirmtech r e p o r t e d t h a t r e v e n u e s for the second q u a r t e r were US$16.35 million, u p 3.2% fromthe s a m e period one y e a r ago. For the first six m o n t h s of fiscal 1998, M i n n t e c h r e p o r t e d n e t e a r n i n g s of US$2.092 million, virtually the s a m e as n e t e a r n i n g s of US$2.072 million for the s a m e period of fiscal 1997. Minntech also a n n o u n c e d t h a t r e v e n u e s for the six m o n t h s e n d e d S e p t e m b e r 30, 1997 were US$34.11 million, a n i n c r e a s e of 4.9% from r e v e n u e s of US$32.53 million r e p o r t e d in the First half of the prior fiscal year. It w a s r e p o r t e d t h a t M i n n t e c h ' s r e v e n u e growth c o n t i n u e s to be i m p a c t e d by the c o n c l u s i o n of the m i n i m u m p u r c h a s e a g r e e m e n t with C.R. Bard for Minntech's first g e n e r a t i o n oxygenator, which c o n t r i b u t e d 13.3% of sales in the s e c o n d q u a r t e r l a s t year. Excluding oxygenator sales from b o t h years, r e v e n u e s i n c r e a s e d 17.6% in the r e c e n t q u a r t e r c o m p a r e d to the s e c o n d q u a r t e r of fiscal 1997.
