New products and developments New partial pressure gauge The new gauge ‘QMG064’. provides the user with a cost-effective and competitive solution to such vacuum problems as: *Partial pressure monitoring and regulation. *Vacuum Diagnostics. ‘Residual gas analysis. ‘Leak detection. ‘Total pressure measurement by combining these features in the same instrument. The front panel of the 19 in. rack electronics module has no knobs and dials. Results are displayed clearly and automatically at the push of a button and you have all the flexibility of a USER-programmable mass spectrometer. Modernizing

the pressure-gauge

One per cent accuracy; safety construction; moulded polycarbonate casing.

A completely new range of 63 mm-dia pressure and vacuum gauges combines distinctive modern lines (see photographs) with f 1% accuracy and high standards of durability and safety. The new gauges are designed to be incorporated in modern industrial, medical and agricultural equipment where conventional gaugelargely unchanged in looks for many years-would give a ‘dated’ appearance. The most obvious external innovation is the one-piece polycarbonate moulding that forms the window and case of the gauge. This tough, clear plastic casing is virtually indestructible, but a relatively weak stainless-steel back-panel ensures that, if an explosion occurs when the gauge is used with oxygen, acetylene or high-pressure gases, the blast is directed safely away from the operator.

Fully bushed movement. The new gauges cover pressure ranges from O-l 0 lb in-’ up to &10660 lb in-’ (&CL6 bar to g-666 bar; 6-60 kPa to O-60 MPa), and may be calibrated in any desired units. Vacuum ranges are also available. Pointer movement is always clockwise for increasing pressure. Inlet connections may be G+, ct_ or e; alternatively+in or+in NPT. Fourteen standard ‘psi’ ranges and 14 standard ‘bar’ ranges are available from stock. All gauges carry a 2-yr warranty. Internally, the gauge movement has self-lubricating sintered bronze bushes throughout, rather than plain bearings. The anodized aluminium dial is secured to the gauge-block and not the casing, so that any twisting applied during connection or disconnection cannot affect calibration. The dial carries the scale and figures only, units of pressure being identified behind a separate polycarbonate biock inserted in the front face. Optional features include pressure-overload stops; ‘aluminium-free’ construction for use in mines; and two alternative methods of damping out short-period fluctuations. One method employs viscous damping of the movement-the pinion rotates in a small cup filled with thick oil; the other has a tapered-needle snubbing device in the entry-port. Budenberg Gauge Co Ltd.
