More price increases REICHHOLD is adding ~100/ tonne on products for its composites business in Europe, effective immediately. The company has also announced a new price increase of US$O.04/lb on all unsaturated polyester resins sold in North America. This is in addition to the $0.04/Ib increase which took effect on 7 February. This is effective for all North American orders shipped on, or after, 10 March. "This additional price increase is necessary due to continuing strength in styrene, benzene, and natural gas prices," explained Reichhold's Composites senior vice president Julia Harp. "Uncertainty in Venezuela and the Middle East is creating increased market volatility and
driving an increase in styrene monomer costs." Scott

increasing prices of its polyester resins and gel-coats by C100/ tonne on 1 March throughout Europe. The UK-based firm says the sustained high price of crude oil at over US$30/barrel has resulted in big increases in the price of styrene, a key component in polyester resins. Increased prices of other raw materials such as phthalic and maleic anhydride and propylene glycol are making the situation worse. He will be responsible for the promotion and sales of all Strongwell's composite products throughout Europe. Reichhold has named Dr Ashok Mendiratta as vice president of Global Technology, Dr E r i c C a r l i e r as director of Technology, Europe, and A l b e r t o P i c c i n o t t i as director of European Sales. Mendiratta is based in Reichhold's World in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. He has global responsibility for all of Reichhold's technology
functions and will report to senior vice president Julia HarlJ. Mendiratta joins Reichhold from PolyOne where he was director of corporate business development. Carlier replaces Raj P a t e l who retires at the end of March. Carlier comes to Reichhold from Owens Coming in Belgium where he was European research and development director. He will relocate to Sandefjord, Norway, and will report to Mendiratta. Piccinotfi has been with Reichhold one year, serving as director of Master Planning Europe. He will work to improve customer satisfaction and drive profitable growth in Europe.
