Nonlinear stress-strain curves for several types of hydraulic fill under 1-dimensional strain conditions are presented. A nonlinear elastic analysis is described th.~t can provide the stress and closure distributions in narrow filled veins as a function of mining geometry. The application of the technique is shown by the use of data from the Coeur d'Alene m/nlng district, Idaho, USA.

198l A schematised description is given of the different stages of the project to show its development, together with the strategies that were selected. The 4 sta~es of the project (preinvestigations, first model for comparison with in-situ mearurements, sensitivity study, second improved model) are treated with reference to choice of nmterial models, determination of model properties and control of the calculated values.

1981 The BEF~d code, developed for rock mechanics problems in hard rock with joints, is a simple F ~ code constructed with the use of triangular and quadrilateral elements. The paper discusses excavation technique, joint model laws (shear and normal stress-displacement behavlour), formulation of joint element, dilatation, representation of fill behaviour. The BEFFN code is beir~ used in the Nasliden project. 824079 sHFAR BEHAVIOUR 0F JOINT E L E ~ ' P S IN THE BP~.'I CODE Jona sson, P Proc Conference on the Applic~tion of Rock Zechanics to Cut and Fill Mitring, Lulea, ]'3 June ]990, P209-212.
