ANNOUNCEMENTS NATO ADVANCED STUDY INSTITUTE ON THEORY AND PRACTICE OF BIOLOGICAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT An Advanced Study Institute entitled Theory and Practice of Biological Wastewater Treatment will be conducted at Bo~aziqi University, Istanbul, Turkey between t2-23 July 1976. The format of the Institute will be tutorial including lectures as well as discussion and problem sessions. The tentative course outline of the institute is as follows. Introduction to Wastewater Treatment; Characterization of Wastes; General Concepts of Aerobic Biological Treatment; Treatment Kinetics; Waste Stabilization Ponds; Aerated Lagoons; Activated Sludge Process; Trickling Filters; Modification in Aerobic Treatment Processes; General Concepts in Anaerobic Treatment; Sludge Digestion; Advanced Biological Treatment Processes: Economics of Biological Wastewater Treatment; etc.
The lectures will be given by ten eminent engineers from different countries. Accommodation will be provided for the participants at the Students Residence of Bo~azi~i University. The cost of the full 2-week period including accommodation, full board and lecture notes is $235 for single rooms and $190 per person for double rooms. There will be no admission fee. A limited number of fellowships will be available to cover travel and living expenses. The working language of the Institute will be English.
