1990

The 6th Workshop on Nonlinear Evolution Equations and Dynamical Systems (NEEDS) will take place in Dubna near Moscow, USSR, from Monday July 16 (arrival day) to Thursday July 26 (departure day), 1990. The first five Workshops of this series have been reported in Physica D 2 (1981) 545-548, D 11 (1984) 389-391, D 29 (1988) 431-436, and Inverse Problems 3 (1987) 775-780, and in press. The 6th Workshop will follow the same pattern, both in terms of scientific content and organizational structure. The techniques discussed will range from pure mathematics through numerical computations to applicable theory and experiments. This is the first time that the NEEDS workshop will be held in the Soviet Union, away from the shore of the Mediterranian Sea, where all previous sessions met. We hope this experiment will be successful and will continue in the summer of even years, while the usual format will be maintained in odd years (the 7th Workshop will be held in the summer of 1991 in South Italy). An all inclusive fee of US$400 will cover the cost of registration (US$lOO), meals and lodging during the Workshop (in double occupancy rooms with private facilities) and the transport from Moscow to Dubna and back (which wiii be provided by the Organizing Committee for participants arriving on Juiy i6 and leaving on July 26). The all inclusive rate for accompanying persons is US$250. The program for accompanying persons will include coach trips to Moscow and the Zagorsk Monastery, a pleasure boat trip up the Volga river and other social events. The Workshop is open to qualified scientists who have contributed to the topics mentioned above. Persons interested in participating should apply as soon as possible (acceptances will be on a first-come first-serve basis, and will be limited to 80 participants), and in any case before March 31, by contacting V.G. Makhankov, JINR Laboratory of Computing Technique and Automation, Dubna, 141980 MOSCOW region, USSR; telex: 412621 Dubna SU; telephoce (c/o Scientific Conference Secretariat, JINR): (8 221) 62837; fax: 70952002283, with copy to: D. Participants will be notified about their admittance by April 30 at the latest (by fax, telefax or e-mail if the appropriate information is specified in the application). They will then be provided with further information, and asked to confirm their participation by depositing a non-refundable advance of US$lOO. The balance of the participation fee will have to be paid in US$ upon arrival. F. Calogero V. Makhankov 0167-2789/89/$03.50 0 Elsevier Science Publishers (North-Holland Physics Publishing Division)
