s part of a reorganisation designed to accelerate growth, Ahlstrom Corp is dividing its current filtration business into two areas: Transportation Filtration and Advanced Filtration. From 1 January 2013, Ahlstrom will have four business areas: Building and Energy; Transportation Filtration; Advanced Filtration; and Food and Medical. Transportation Filtration will specialise in transportation filtration materials while Advanced Filtration will focus on life science and laboratory filtration materials. Tommi Björnman, executive vice president, Filtration, will leave Ahlstrom at the end of this year. Jari Koikkalainen has been appointed executive vice president, Transportation Filtration, and a member of the Ahlstrom executive management team from 1 February 2013. Reporting to Jan Lång, Ahlstrom president and CEO, Koikkalainen will be responsible for leading and developing the transportation filtration business within Ahlstrom. He will be based in Beijing, China. Koikkalainen joins Ahlstrom from Metso Corp, where he is currently area president of Metso Paper (China) Co Ltd. Advanced Filtration, focused on life science and laboratory filtration materials, will be led by Fulvio Capussotti, who has been appointed executive vice president of Advanced Filtration and a member of the Ahlstrom executive management team. He will also report to Lång. Capussotti currently leads Ahlstrom’s Advanced Filtration business unit. Ahlstrom expects its sales volume development during the rest of this year to be weaker than the company had earlier estimated due to lower than anticipated demand in key markets. The continued economic slowdown, especially in Europe, has reduced demand, while recovery in China has been delayed. The company now expects its 2012 full year net sales from continuing operations to be E1550 million–1630 million and operating profit excluding non-recurring items from continuing operations to be E48 million–58 million. Ahlstrom had previously forecast its 2012 net sales to be E1575 million–1735 million and operating profit excluding non-recurring items to be E60 million–80 million for 2012.

I

merys Filtration Minerals Inc is increasing its prices for products shipped within North America from 15 November 2012. The 4–12% price increases will apply across all diatomite, perlite, cellulose, and silicate products. The energy surcharge will remain in effect.
