Neuronal and glial cell biology Cell and molecular biology online http://www.cellbio.com/ These are the pages of Cell and Molecular Biology Online (CMBO), a very well designed, informative and easily navigable resource with many links to information for cell and molecular biologists. Created and maintained by Pamela Gannon, included URLs have been selected on the basis of their information content and ease of use. Links are grouped into topics covering research, education, communication and other selected pages — altogether an excellent site. Dictionary of cell biology http://www.mblab.gla.ac.uk/dictionary/ Online version of The Dictionary of Cell Biology, now in its third edition (published in late 1999). This site provides quick and easy access to definitions of terms frequently encountered in the modern biology literature. The definitions are brief and informative, and contain very useful highlighted embedded links to related records, providing a simple method for exploring unfamiliar terms. Cytokines http://www.copewithcytokines.de/ This is the home page of Horst Ibelgaufts’ Cytokines Online Pathfinder Encyclopaedia (COPE), providing a ‘Hypertext Information Universe of Cytokines’. A staggering amount of information concerning all aspects of cytokine research and related subjects makes this site a great resource for anyone wishing to know more about a specific aspect of cytokine research or to navigate the complexities of this field of research. Pages (over 6650 of them, plus further web links) can be accessed from alphabetical lists or via ‘selected suitable entry points for browsing’, including: organization of COPE, MiniCOPE Dictionaries, Cytokines, CytokineAlert, Cell lines in cytokine research, and CytokineTopics.
