Superior Vacuum technology (SV'I') has introduced the Model 450-10HT 10cc Higher l-emperature Effusion Cell for use in I_*HV thin film deposition systems. This uniquely designed effusion cell allows crucible temperatures as high as 2000' C for flux control over 3 to 5 orders of magnitude. This range and stability . opens up new applications such as the deposition of silicon and high temperature superconductors normally restricted to more expensive e-gun and sputter deposition sources. Therefore, epitaxial silicon layers can be grown on silicon and gallium arsenide wafers. Other refractory materials such as boron, yttrium, copper and platinum can also be used as source materials. The thermocouple feedback results in precise temperature control, stability and reproducibility.
PYRITTE In another new development, SVT has been awarded exclusive North American representation of the German-manufactured P Y R I T T E measurement system. The P Y R I T T E is an in situ film thickness and temperature measurement system using pyrometric interferometry especially designed for MBE and M O C V D growth of dielectric mirrors and fabrication of surface emitting lasers. The P Y R I T T E family consists of three models ranging tYom the P Y R I T T E - E O which determines directly and in real time the optical thickness and optical growth rate of the layer under investigation during the process at one wavelength. The P Y R I T T E - M W measures the t e m p e r a t u r e radiation of the wafer at different wavelengths and gains the values for temperature and film thickness by nonlinear fitting of the data to the expected theoretical behaviour. It is designed for single layer techniques like CVD epitaxy or oxidation. The P Y R I T T E - M W - M L is for multilayer technologies like MBE and MOMBE. The entire P Y R I T T E line hosts high performance electronics and a PC-based menu-driven user interface for easy documentation and control.
