Vacuum News The sputtering chamber has convenient front-door loading and contains up to four 6- to 8-in. targets with either manual or automatic matching network controls. Operator judgment is minimal, involving only the positioning of one row of lights on the control panel. By delivering six times the speed of typical 400 I/s turbomolecular pumps and doubling the speed of large 800 I/s pumps during the sputtering process, the Sputtorr pump module reduces the chamber contamination level significantly. An automatic high vacuum valve, part of the pumping system, controls crossover from rough to high vacuum pumping at 200 pm to reduce mechanical pump backstreaming and eliminate primary backstreaming from the diffusion pump. This unique capabllity enhances the purity of the coating environment and the reliability of the end product. Varian Vacuum Division Circle number 31 on Reader Enquiry Service Card
Time delay relays A new range of time delay relays available in either delay on energise or delay on de-energise in various time ranges up to O-5 min and voltages up to 240 V ac and 110 V dc. Repeat accuracy is better than *2% with a reset time of 50 ms maximum. Output provided is double pole changeover rated 5 A at 230 V ac non-inductive.
New line of stainless steel formed vacuum bellows For the first time, vacuum scientists have access to ultra-high stainless steel formed vacuum bellows as separate components. Stainless steel bellows may be used on fittings or welded directly to a vacuum manifold. They are manufactured in sizes from 0.25 in. id to 12 in. id, with off-shelf delivery on standard sizes. Custom configurations are also available. Huntington Mechanical Laboratories Circle number 35 on Reader Enquiry Service card
Post deflection magnification (PDM) cathode ray tubes Centronic, the exclusive UK representatives for Thomas Electronics Inc, of New Jersey, USA, announce the availability in the UK of a unique range of large screen electrostatically deflected, mesh post deflection magnification (PDM) cathode ray tubes. The tubes contain a domed mesh pda system which increases the deflection sensitivities threefold. Resolution, deflection defocussing, deflection linearity and display geometry have been optimised in each design and the tubes, which range in size from 8.5 to 21 in. display diagonal, are suited to radar and information display applications where magnetically deflected tubes have been previously used and to applications requiring high speed switching and spot positioning. New suction and return line reservoir flanges The suction flanges, Model SF and SF0 are designed for the suction pipe line of the reservoir. The parts are installed on the top of the reservoir tank. Larger models-SFO-24 to SFO-48 permit the use of filters larger than 4.5 in. in diameter. All sizes (0.5 in. NPT to 3 in. NTP) allow for the easy removal of suction strainers from ASA standard reservoirs.
Fail-safe vacuum valve A new development in vacuum valves, a fail-safe spring actuated valve has been introduced. Designed for use where positive valve closure is essential, the main spring will operate the vacuum valve when an air or electrical failure occurs. The RF Return Line Reservoir Flange is designed to accommodate the return pipe to the tank. They are available in all pipe sizes from 0.5 in. NPT to 2 in. NPT.
Oil filled pressure gauges A new range is announced of glycerine-filled gauges with measuring ranges up to 400 bar, scale diameters of 40, 50, 60, 80 and 100 mm, venting control, laminated safety glass (or acrylic) and safety blow-out disc.
Both reservoir flange models come completely packaged with parts and template and are ready for installation. The Reservoir Flanges meet ASA standards, and feature clean, plated surfaces which require no additional processing or painting before installation. High capacity system uses Ferrofluidic driven carousel One of two high capacity vacuum systems used for vacuum deposition of Cr, Ni, and Au thin films. System accurately coats 250 in? of substrate area per hour using Ferrofluidic feedthroughs to drive a 20 in. dia carousel. System was designed by Film Microelectronics Incorporated.
A new type of (patented) mounting arrangement for the bourdon tube together with the glycerine filling results in an extremely accurate and reliable gauge for arduous pneumatic and hydraulic applications in the presence of severe vibration and pulsation.
Water-cooled ferrometic feedthrough operates at 250°C. Second Ferrofluidic feedthrough operates valve. Ferrofluidics Corp Circle number 38 on Reader Enquiry Service card
