Organised jointly by the Water & Environmental Group of the Society of Chemical Industry and the Environment Group of the Chemical Society. NATURE AND PURPOSE OF THE SYMPOSIUM
This international meeting, lasting 3 days, is being organised for the presentation and discussion of original research papers in the field of "New Processes of Waste Water Treatment and Recover),". No formal sub-divisions have been defined within the overall symposium programme, but typical areas of interest would include, e.g. :
PUBLICATIONOF PAPERS The collected papers will be published initially, in bound and printed form, for distribution solely to delegates in advance of the meeting. Discussions of papers presented at the Symposium will be despatched to delegates 1-2 months after the Symposium as a bound volume. The full proceedings will be made available subsequently in book form for worldwide public sale by the end of 1977. There will thus be no delay in open publication of the papers and discussion.
biological and physico-chemical treatment of sewage, and of industrial and other waste waters: methods for recovery and re-use of valuable materials, including, e.g. food values, metals, chemicals and water; the achievement of high quality discharges; analytical monitoring and automatic control of treatment and recovery processes; contributions towards the technical solution of new and/or difficult problems in waste water treatment; research relevant to environmental quality standards.
REGISTRATION
While research on methodology will be apposite, fundamental examinations and exploratory studies will also be of particular relevance to the meeting. Technologies will not need necessarily to have been fully realised, but potential practicality must be evident. SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Original papers are invited for presentation to this meeting. It is emphasized that reviews will not be acceptable, nor will direct commercially-based descriptive material, since the orientation is entirely towards original research and development. An independent referee procedure will be employed, and final acceptance will be subject to referees" reports.
The Symposium registration fee is £90.00, or £65.00 for members of the Society of Chemical Industry, the Chemical Society and members of associated bodies. This covers receipt of the pre-Symposium volume of papers, the discussions, attendance at the Conference, light refreshments during morning and afternoon breaks, luncheon (excluding alcoholic beverages) and coach transportation between the nominated hotels (see below) and the S.C.I.
