New rotary encoder for smaller drives Heidenhain now offers the new MINIROD 425 rotary encoder to meet the motor industry's needs as the trend moves toward smaller drive systems. The incremental diameter of the MINIROD 425 is just 40 mm (1.57 in.). The coupling is suitable for shafts 4 mm (0.157 in.) and 6 mm (0.236 in.) in diameter. The coupling can compensate play in the shaft up to -+ 2.5 mm (0.1 in.) axially and up to -+ 0.2 mm (0.008 in.) radially.

The encoder has TTL level output signals and a maximum scanning frequency of 300 kHz. The compact rotary encoder is available with line counts of 100 to 1500, which allows a maximum resolution of up to 6000 positions per revolution.
