1997 Nashville Convention--Last Chance! NGNA's 12th annual convention, "Partners in Caring: Creating Excellence Through Innovation, Integration and Collaboration," will be held September 28 through October 1, 1997. Opryland Hotel Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, is the place for NGNA's biggest educational conference ever. Faculty for the convention include such luminaries as Margo McCaffery, Geri Richards Hall,
Melodie Chenevert, Julia Balzer Riley, Charlotte Eliopoulos, Ellie Green, Marie Infante, Dennis Robbins, Kathleen Fletcher, and Joan Warden-to name just a few! There will be designated advanced courses, as well as general sessions. There are preconvention workshops on Sunday, September 28, and postconvention workshops the afternoon of Wednesday, October 1. NGNA has a Chapter Formation Forum at the Convention every year to assist groups with the chapter development process. opportunity for those NGNA members who already have a core group of gerontology nurses meeting regularly and have been thinking of becoming a national chapter. It is also useful for those individuals who are interesting in getting a group started in their local area. All are welcome! The Forum meets Tuesday, September 30 from 7 AM to 8 AM.
NGNA PIN NGNA is excited to be offering its official pin to members. The pin has just recently been designed and is now offered for those who wish to wear a beautiful lapel pin on their suit jacket or lab coat lapel. The pin has the NGNA logo and is offered in 5/8" size in either 10 kt. yellow gold for $55 or 14 kt. gold electroplate for $20. for gerontological nurse practitioner and gerontological clinical nurse specialist. Sixty-two experienced advanced practice contributors have written chapters in their specialty areas for the new core
curriculum. The book is expected to be available by early spring in 1998. NGNA published The Core Curriculum for Gerontological Nursing Practice with Mosby in 1996. This book
won the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award. It prepares gerontologic nurse generalists for the ANCC examination. --Ann Schmidt Luggen

NGNA ANNOUNCES PHOTO CONTEST For National Gerontological Nursing Day Do you have an original, unique photo that portrays our elderly population? NGNA is looking for a unique photo that will be used to celebrate National Gerontological Nursing Day in May. Please submit original photos by January 20 to the National Office. If your photo is selected you will be notified by February 10 and will WIN FREE TUITION TO THE 1998 ANNUAL CONVENTION. Your photo will also be showcased during this convention at NGNA's exhibit booth. (A signed release form from the winner will be required prior to duplication and all photos will be returned.)
