PLENARY SESSION OBJECTIVES

10:15 a.m. "How and Why to Start a Non-Invasive Vascular Lab" Barry T. Katzen, MD

As a result of attending the plenary sessions, participants will be able to: 1. Discuss the current state of the specialty of vascular and interventional radiology, its strengths and weaknesses, and describe strategies for building vascular and interventional radiology practice for optimal patient care. 2. Identify common risks of interventional raetiology to both patient and operator, and describe practical strategies for minimizing such risks. 3. Describe current and promising future interventional radiology techniques and devices and anticipated outcomes for treatment of both vascular and non-vascular disorders; discuss the underlying anatomic, physiologic, and pathophysiologic substrates influencing application of these techniques. 4. Analyze the influence of governmental agencies, public policy, and public awareness on the practice of vascular and interventional radiology.
