NEWS Notes from here and there Dr. Mahmoud Torabinejad has been appointed program director for the Graduate Endodontic Program at Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California, effective Spring Quarter 1989. Dr. Torabinejad joined the faculty in 1977 as associate professor and became professor of endodontics in 1982. He is a recipient of the AAE's Ralph Sommer Award (1986) for significant contribution to endodontic literature and is chairman of the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee of the Association. A Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, Dr. Torabinejad also serves on the scientific advisory panels of two journals: The Journal of Endodontics, and Endodontics and Dental Traumatology. In addition to authoring numerous articles and textbook chapters (over 50), he is also co-editor of a textbook, Principles and Practice of Endodontics published in 1988.

Dr. Marshall Peikoff of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was the guest speaker at the IV Congresso Paulista de Endodontia in San Paulo, Brazil, October 13-16, 1988. His lecture topics included ultrasonics in endodontics, indication for endodontic surgery and a refresher course in clinical endodontics. While in San Paulo, Dr. Peikoff was hosted by Dr. Joao Antoniazzi. Dr. Manuel h Weisman will be a featured speaker at the Florida Dental Association's annual Congress June 30 in Orlando, Florida. His topics will include "Conquering pain is the name of the game - - the essence of endodontic care," and "Current concepts in endodontic surgery."
