Vesical Calculi in a Bitch Two Years Old. By HERBERT BUCKINGHAM, M. R.C.V.S., Norzvich. A CAIRJ\ bitch , two year old and fat.

Frequently placing h erself in position for th e purpose of micturition a nd straining unduly. L:pon examination I found a number of small calcu li upon the hairs surrounding th e vul va, adhering very loosely by means of fresh moist mucus. I presume nature had fore tailed me, by evacuating them from the bladder and urethra of her own accord, without my h elp. I could not find any sign of m ore, and as she passed urine naturally, I let it be at th at. She has b een no troubl e since. This is the second case of a similar nature which I have had this year. I do not remember h aving b een lucky enough to discover calculi in that position before.

"Saintl y" is also well known in th e Cat Fancy on account of her r eputation as a dancer. This is really a peculiar movement of the hind leg n aturally inh e rited from her grandfather, "Prince Souti." "Sain tly" always does this d ance when sh e is exce sively pleased or when certain refra in s are su ng to her. he is a very keen ratter, also a good rabbite r, and will, after killing, bring h om e rabbits almost ac; large as her elf. most interestedly listening to th e music, and when a so ft · soprano or tenor was in the programme she would bury her head in the loud speaker. I took some snap-shots, but the eat's head could not be seen, the markings being of the same dark colour as the loud speaker. I therefore, took the accompanying photos when she was just listening some distance away with her head on one side, enraptured with the melody.

An Interesting Cause of Bladder 0 bstruction in a Cat. By HERBERT BUCKINGHAM, M.R.C.V.S., Norwich.

A LARGE common male castrated cat, 13 years old , was brought to me in a dying condition. I was asked to "put it to sleep." I did so and then made a post-mortem examination. Several years ago it was brought to me b ecause it " had a swelling on its body." This swelling was an umbilical hernia. Nothing was done to the lesion , because it was causing no inconvenience, and an operation was obj ected t o. Now the ext ernal tumor was quite as big as a cricket ball , not quite so deep, and a little more spread out. The peritoneum was infla med , the cavity had become more or less part of the abdominal cavity , and there was no definite line of demarcation. Inside that cavity, to my surprise, I found a full bladder, containing five ounces of urine, and around the neck of the bladder was twisted four inches (doubled) of bowel, which prevented the bladder from being emptied. There was no sign of inflammation or disease in either the bowel or bladder.
