PROCEED.2 CO~GBESS, INgERNAT.SOC.ROCK MECH.HELGRAD, 1970,V~, 1974, P301"304. The writer discusses the type of materials which ahould be employed for models. The materials should be of high deformability with characteristics which cca~respor~ to those of the prototype, especially from the point of view of elasticity vlsco-plasticity and ~roneness to rupture. The study on model materials at ISMES revealed that the best model material is a mixture of powered limestone, barite amd concrete in epcxo-resin emulsified and diluted in enough water to humldize the powders~ (Rda~tion of glycerine is sometimes helpful).

852 MARX, C Evaluation of the diamond drilling process. Figs, Tabls,Refs. INDUST.DIAM.REV. NOV. 197B, P421-429. Prompted by am earlier article by K. Spink~evaluation criteria for the diamond drilling process were studied compared with the results given by Spink While a general agreement with the approach, gemeral viewpoints and presentation can be stated, different opinions exist with respect to bit design, interl~etation of the test results stud importance of the specific energy figures as an evaltla~ion criterion; For effective drilling with diamond bits u r ~ the objective of balancing high penetration rate and low bit wear, operational conditions are needed which go considerably above the capacity of the test machine used by Spink. New test data for surface-set and impregnated bits are presented arzl discussed. The tests were run under controlled coniltions using 3 different rock types. Auth.
