Abstract
The present paper deals with 3D simulation of the wind flow pattern around two successive buildings of square cross-section. One of the buildings is cubic and the other is a rectangular prism of height twice that of the cube (H). The spacing between the buildings has been chosen as H and 2H and the wind speeds 9 and 18 m/s. In addition, two possible configurations of the building with respect to air flow have been considered. The numerical modelling is based on the SIMPLE algorithm and velocity components and pressures have been obtained as output. The results are presented as velocity contour plots and pressure coefficients. The results show that the wind flow pattern around the buildings is mainly influenced by wind speed and spacing.
