Abrasive wear resistance and age hardening,

The effect of age hardening on the abrasive wear resistance of metals is considered. Data on steels of direct reduction medium carbon steels, duraluminium and Ni-Cr-Ti alloy are presented.

Data are presented on wear testing the impellers of suction dredges made of chromium cast irons. An optimal impeller geometry resulting in a triple durability increase is recommended.

M. P. Markovets and A. M. Semin, Effect of contact friction on the hardness measured by ball indentation, Trenie Iznos, 5 (5) (1984) 910. The effect of contact friction on hardness was studied and friction coefficients of alloys were determined by the ball pressing method. It was shown that, in testing by this method, the measured values of hardness are independent of the lubrication of the ball.

L. Yu. Pruzhanskii and S. M. Remizov, Studies in human teeth enamel roughness formation and wear, Trenie Iznos, 5 (5) (1984) 915. The technique of laboratory studies in the roughness formation and wear of human teeth is described. Data on the effect of dentifrices, the brush and acidity of the ambient medium are presented.
