P. K O E N I G Hedera helix has become part of the armamen-
British Hom~eopathicJournal tarium thanks ot the work of J. Mezger, whose drug proving and clinical report refer to a marked relationship to the liver, thyroid and joints. The history is given of a woman with primary biliary cirrhosis who also had a history of nodular goitre. Long-term treatment with Hedera helix 5c proved successful. A remarkable symptom was the ravenousness coinciding with epigastric symptoms. Other symptoms: palpitations/pulsation in chest extending to neck; waking at 3 am, worse lying on right; tiredness after eating. Mezger called this a markedly left-sided drug and apart from the local symptoms, the history showed predominantly left-sided problems. All Homdop Ztg 1991; 236:143-9
