AxFIow divides up UK distributor
Increasing demand for its pumps from around the world, has led Orbit Pumps to expand both at its home site in South Africa and at its UK subsidiary. At Germiston, South Africa, Orbit has increased capacity by adding new machining equipment in its rotor shop and increasing the throughput of its rubber plant. Night shifts have been introduced in the rotor, rubber, finishing and chrome-plating shops. This latest expansion follows the commissioning of a larger oven

and the installation of digital test equipment earlier in the year. Orbit opened its first factory in England in 1994 and has just moved to new premises with purpose-built offices in the Trafford Park area of Manchester. The new site has improved factory and store areas to cope with projected increases in volume of new pumps, refurbishments and repairs. The move has also created the opportunity to improve the test area and the paint spray booth.
George Meller Ltd has been restructured into three separate companies: AxFtow LEd, Meller Process Equipment LEd and Meller FlowTrans Ltd. Each company will act independently as a component within the panEuropean AxFlow group. AxFlow LEd will market and distribute the complete range of pumps and pumping systems previously handled by George Meller. Meller Process Equipment LEd is responsible for filtration systems, instrumentation, and other process components. Meller FlowTrans will specialise in road transport product discharge and power transfer equipment.
