EKKI Pumps establishes Flowrox sets up Centre at Excellence subsidiary in Peru at Indian engineering inland’s Flowrox has officially opened its ninth subsidiary, F college Flowrox SAC in Lima, Peru.

KKI Pumps has inaugurated the EKKI-MCET International Water Technology Centre (EIWTC) at the Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering & Technology (MCET) in Pollachi, Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, India. Set up in collaboration with MCET and Nachimuthu Polytechnic College, the EKKI-MCET International Water Technology Centre (EIWTC) is a global centre of excellence for pumps and waterrelated technologies. The centre, which will exchange best practices in teaching and research for the pump industry and water-related technologies, is equipped with a product galleria, pump testing fluid factory and a knowledge transfer classroom. Kanishka Arumugam, director of EKKI and Deccan Pumps Pvt Ltd, said their mission is to create a world-class centre of excellence that focuses on making significant difference to the pump industry and waterrelated technologies. “We believe it is vital to encourage young people to consider a career in the pump industry and water-related technologies. The only way we can do this is to provide them with the information and support they need to make an informed career choice,” said Arumugam. “We have seen how academic institutions and industry can work together successfully on the lines of Fraunhofer in Germany and the Warwick Manufacturing Group in England. Collaboration with academia and lifelong learning will be a crucial component to help achieve our growth plans at EKKI and Deccan.” Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering & Technology (MCET), which was established in 1998, is a private, autonomous, self-financing, co-educational institution approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to the Anna University.

Located on the west coast of Tuscany, the new Livorno service centre is twice the size of the previous facility. hio Transmission Corporation (OTC) has acquired Pumps, Parts and Service Inc (PP&S), an industrial pump and repair business in the southeastern United States. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, PP&S was established in 1980 by Ray Miller as a two-person sales office representing just one pump manufacturer. The company is now a regional distributor of rotating and process equipment serving industrial, municipal and energy markets. PP&S’s multi-state, multi-brand distributorship includes regional sales and service centres that cover Alabama,

Earlier this year US private equity firm Genstar Capital acquired OTC from Irving Place Capital, in partnership with management (see Pump Industry Analyst, April 2019). • OTC has also acquired Tennessee’s IDG Compressor, a full-service distributor of Quincy Compressor products and services for more than 30 years. IDG Compressor, part of the Sonepar/Vallen Distribution network, has locations in the Tennessee cities of Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville and remote operations in parts of Kentucky and Georgia. The company will now become a division of OTC’s Air Technologies, a compressed air system equipment and service provider. Metso expands remote monitoring in Chile and China

M

etso is investing in its remote monitoring services for the mining industry by opening its first performance centre in Santiago, Chile, and planning for a second centre in Changsha, China. The new Metso performance centres provide continuous automated monitoring, improvements and predictive maintenance services for customers’ mineral processing equipment, components and processes. Metso has plans to open additional performance centres in major mining regions over the next two years. The first Metso performance centre has started its operations in temporary facilities in Santiago and will soon move to new, customised premises. The centre employs a multi-disciplinary team of experts who analyse incoming data to help customers optimise their equipment
