Stem and Progenitor Cells The examples of the range of tissues and modes of skeletogenesis intermediate between two generally recognised classes of skeletal tissues cartilage and bone and processes of skeletogenesis, both intramembranous and endochondral, discussed in Parts II and III, set the stage for the two major questions addressed in Parts IV (Chapters 10 and 11) and in V (Chapters 12 to 15): 1. How do skeletogenic cells arise? 2. What are the progenitor cell relationships between the various classes of skeletogenic cells? I address these questions by examining embryonic stem and progenitor cells in Chapter 10 and stem and progenitor cells in adults in Chapter 11.
