AECOM awarded water treatment and reuse project
A
ECOM Technology Corp has won a US$101 million design-build contract for a water and wastewater project in Davie, Florida. AECOM Technology Corp will construct a 6 million gallon per day (MGD) brackish water membrane treatment plant as well as a 3.5 MGD membrane water reclamation facility. The project also includes a new utility office for the town, a series of five raw water wells, two deep injection wells and reuse of the reclaimed water. The project is scheduled for completion during 2013.
United Envirotech to design, build a wastewater recycling plant in China
U
nited Envirotech Ltd has won a RMB30 million engineering, procurement and construction contract to build a wastewater recycling plant in Hegang City, China. The 30 000 m3/day wastewater recycling facility will supply recycled water to the chemical plants based at the nearby industrial park. “Recycled water is becoming a very important alternative water resource given the current water shortages, especially in the North Eastern China. A cost effective supply of good quality recycled water is vital to the fast growing industrialisation and it is beneficial to the government, local community and industries as a whole,” said Dr Lin Yucheng, chairman and CEO of United Envirotech.
Peak Energy to deliver wastewater treatment system in Canada
P
eak Energy Services Trust will provide a major oil and gas exploration client with a US$2 mil-
lion wastewater treatment system featuring Sanithem SaniBrane technology. Sanitherm Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Peak, will design, manufacture and commission the wastewater treatment system which will service up to 800 people at the client’s northern Alberta operations site. The expected delivery date is June 2011.
VWS Westgarth wins SRP system contract
T
he award is for the design, supply and delivery of a single lift module seawater sulphate reduction package (SPR) system with a capacity of 20 060 m³/day. The multi-million dollar contract from SBM Atlantia is for VWS Westgarth’s SRP system to be installed in the Baleia Azul field, Campos Basin, offshore Espirito Santo state, Brazil. The SRP is designed to remove sulphates and other divalent ions from injection water to enhance oil recovery using Dow Filmtec membranes. The removal of these ions reduces the tendency of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate scale to form in the reservoir. This new award will be VWS Westgarth’s first collaboration with SBM Atlantia. The contract will be project managed and engineered in VWS Westgarth’s offices in East Kilbride, Glasgow, UK.
Dutch business school launches Executive MBA in Water Management
R
otterdam School of Management, Erasmus University and Wetsus, the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Water Technology, are launching a new Water Specialisation as part of the RSM Executive MBA programme. Starting in January 2011, RSM and Wetsus will offer the higher management education course to companies in the water business. With a strong emphasis on leadership development in an international environment, the aim of the EMBA Water Specialisation programme is to reflect and
