Following the experience in other countries, the practice of pediatric neurology in Israel during the last few years has shifted from general pediatricians with special interest in this field and adult neurologists, to fully trained pediatric neurologists. The Israeli Society of Pediatric Neurology was founded in 1981 and has recently been accredited by the scientific council of the Israel Medical Association. The society consists of 26 full members, approximately half of whom are American or Canadian trained, and the remainder are pediatricians with special interest or expertise in neurological and developmental problems during childhood. The society holds three annual scientific meetings which are attended by many non-member participants such as pediatricians, adult neurologists, psychologists, basic science professionals and others. The first international meeting in which the society is going to participate as an organized group will be held in Jerusalem, on May 20th during the Israeli Medical Association Medical Week. Among other guests we will have with us Drs E Anderman and F Anderman from Montreal. At present nine major Medical Centers throughout the country already provide pediatricneurology services ranging from full time consultations to large-scale units with specific interest in epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, degenerative CNS disorders, developmental assessment, etc. The society is affiliated to the Israeli Neurological Association, and one of its members is also a member of the adult neurology executive committee. In a recent meeting of the society an executive committee was elected as follows: N Gadoth, Chairman; R Weitz, N Amir, N Brand, Members. Correspondence address: N Gadoth, MD, Dept of Neurology, Beilinson Medical Center, 49 100 PetahTiqva, Israel.
