fessed, he had come to rely on absolutely and on her qualities of intuitive discernment. He also leaves three daughters, two of them married and with their own children, and to all of them, who were such pleasure to him, we offer our sincerest sympathy in this loss in which we can also to some extent share. DR FERGIE WOODS writes: I first met him in 1959, when I became his house physician at R L H H , and was impressed with his clinical skill and empathy with his patients--these attributes were obviously also well noted by his surgical colleagues, and visits to the surgical wards for medical opinions were a frequent part of his ward rounds. I was delighted when he asked me to join him in Tunbridge Wells in 1960, and this was the start of nearly thirteen years of close cooperation, and friendship. He passed on to me much knowledge in the fields of homaeopathy and general medicine (particularly his skill with E C G records). He took his work as a member of Faculty Council very seriously, and missed few meetings, despite his busy schedule: his term as President meant a great deal to him and is well remembered by us all. In 1972, we moved away, but continued to keep in touch with him and his family: we were saddened to learn of his slowly deteriorating health, though I did remember him once telling me that he did not envisage ever retiring, and he did not! He will be sadly and long missed, both as physician and friend and by all his patients and colleagues. Our deepest sympathy is extended to his widow, Christine, and their family.
