Pharmacology of the Eye--P. Thomas. Lloyd-Luke, London. 120 pp. 1978. £3.30. This book provides a useful compact account of the action of drugs on the eye. After a general account of the properties of drugs and drug transport, the routes of administration are described (topical, subconjunctival, retro-
bulbal, iontophoretic, sustained releasel. The action of the drugs affecting the sympathetic and parasympathetic system relating to the eye are described together with miotics, mydriatics, cycloplegics, antiobiotics, antivirals, anaesthetics and corticosteroids. There are some useful tables. one in particular describes the interactions between different drugs and their counterindications. There is also a detailed glossary at the end of the book. There are larger books on related subjects but this one has a very good chance of being read and also of providing the required informat ion.
