PROC.EIGRTH INT.CONF.ON SOIL MECH.FOUND.ENGNG,MOSCOW, 1973,V2. i~1973, P199-202. The behaviour of a vertical pile under a lateral dynamic load is explained using results frem full-scale field tests on load bearing piles, (Franki), and friction piles, (Simplex), and pile groups. In some cases resonant corzlitions were also studied. The methods used for estimating relevant soil pile constants umd~r d y r ~ c conditions, and for predicting pile response for efficient pile design under dyrmmic loading are outlined.

PROC.EIGHTH INT.CONF.ON sOIL MECH.FOUND.ENGNG, MOSCOW, 1973 .V2.1,1973, P89-96. The r~nge of conditions in which this method of pile driving is applicable is illustrated using data obtained from a wide variety of sites. The maJerity of the data refers to ss/xls of relatively ur~form grain size. The effectiveness of the method ir~reases when the soil has present a variety of grain sizes and decreases when density, shear strength and pile displacement increases. Results of load tests and vibration studies are given to show the potential of the method where driven piles sre needed near existir~ structures.

1973 ,v2.1,1973, P63-88. A nnmerical method for a computer program to determine pile forces, displacements and soll reactions of a group of piles in a soil with gencral elastic properties, is developed. A mechanical model that is a space structure composed of a rigid pile cap ~ a group of piles elastically embedded in the soil, is used. Results from a c c ~ a t i o n for a single pile are given and compared with experimental data.
