ESFM day in Glasgow a great success The ESFM day held on September 3, 2005, during the annual European Society of Veterinary Internal Medicine congress, Glasgow was again a huge success. A good programme was attended by a large number of delegates from all over Europe. The talks covered the latest on renal disease, diabetes mellitus, gingivitis, inflammatory bowel disease and infectious diseases. Speakers included Kenny Simpson (USA), Alice Wolf (USA), Tim Gruffydd-Jones (UK), Claudia Reusch (Switzerland) and Richard Goldstein (USA). Abstracts were presented from several research centres throughout Europe. The Hill’s/ESFM award for outstanding contributions in the field of feline medicine went to Professor Tim Gruffydd-Jones from Bristol University (UK). Tim has played a crucial role in the development of both the ESFM and FAB and also in the set-up of the feline centre at Bristol University. During the ESFM day he gave an outstanding lecture on the new developments in the diagnostics of feline infectious diseases and was presented with the award by
Jaques Debraekeleer from Hill’s Europe (see picture). As always during the congress there was an excellent social programme, which gave everybody the opportunity to relax and meet like-minded colleagues.
