sur les Mat6riaux et les Constructions or the International Union of Testing and Research Laboratories for Materials and Structures. The meeting is to take place in the Roumanian resort of Constantza on the Black Sea from 4 - 7 September 1974. The first RILEM meeting on ndt of non-metals was held in Paris in 1954 and the intervening 20 years have seen a considerable increase in knowledge in this field. A meeting of the NDT-RILEM Commission on 2 - 3 September will precede the full meeting. The meeting is divided into 12 sections. A rapporteur will present a report of the section's papers at the beginning of each section. The meeting will then have the opportunity of discussing the reported work and results. The delegates are expected to include engineers, physicists, chemists, architects, etc. The call for papers has already been announced in RILEM publications. Summaries of not more than 200 words in English or French should
reach the organizers by 30 September 1973. The papers themselves should be up to 6 pages A4 paper in English or French. Dr loan Facaoaru, INCERC, Sos Pantelimon 266, Bucharest 3, Roumania

LITERATURE A N D SERVICES Calculate, metricate Most of the world is going metric. Imperial units, always in disorder, are now in full retreat. The perplexed anglo-saxon engineer and his excolonial fellows need a little help to adjust. A booklet, International System of Units and Engineering Calculations, has recently been published to give just that. This 28 page booklet covers calculations for power, centrifugal force, flywheels, shafts, friction, velocity, acceleration, parallel axes and the deflection of beams. It provides a record of worked examples for use during the transition and after. IPC Industrial Press Ltd, 3 3 - 3 9 Bowling Green Lane, London EC1R ONE, UK
Fellowship in A S N T Following the example of such venerable organizations as the American College of Surgeons, the American Nuclear Society and, more recently, the American Society for Metals, the American Society for Nondestructive Testing has decided to
award the title of Fellow to eminent members. The Society's constitution has been amended to allow a maximum of 200 Fellowships to be bestowed during the next two years (1973-74). After this only a maximum of 1% of the total membership will be able to receive a Fellowship each year. The qualifications required are listed in the Constitution and include ten years membership of the ASNT, fifteen years professional experience in the ndLfield, plus significant contributions to the advancement of industry. The first Fellowships were initiated by the Board of Directors who randomly selected about 80 suitably qualified members. Future nominations can be made either by the board or by local sections. Next year local sections will have the opportunity to nominate candidates for the remaining 120 Fellowships. Anyone wishing to make such a nomination should contact the chairman of their local ASNT section. American Society for Nondestructive Testing, 914 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60202, USA
