Answer: a. Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common salivary gland neoplasm

Pleomorphic adenomas account for the majority of salivary neoplasms and most commonly occur in the superficial lobe of the parotid gland. They can involve the submandibular and minor salivary glands but rarely involve sublingual glands. These tumors most commonly present in the fourth to fifth decade of life but can occur over a wide age range. They are benign tumors but can recur, often in a multifocal pattern, and be difficult to treat.1 These tumors may also be associated with malignant transformation. Microscopy shows an encapsulated tumor with epithelial and myoepithelial components as well as mesenchymal and stromal components.
